WELove Art

We will pop up on some art! The fam and I love to be apart of and decipher the beauty of experimental art. The Hirshhorn blessed us today with Ann Hamilton’s What Absence is Made Of. Also not to be missed is the work of Ai Wei Wei. Kids and adults will love the powerful Lego art and the wallpaper pieces make for great conversations. Get there before 2018!

Another favorite piece on display is called “Five Day Forecast”….. this will be a little scavenger hunt… Find it and let me know how you felt.

WeLove Infinity Mirrors

Life is Good. Color is Good. Lights are Good.

Yesterday we slowed down to breathe and enjoy each other as a family and explore some art. To me art feels like breathing …. like a good breathe of country air where you have space and you can spread out your arms and spin it all in.

WeLove Ice in the Summer

I’m so proud of you! Screaming so loud for you!

Cue: “This girl is on fire”

Words don’t exist to express the pride and joy Liv brings into our lives! She is strong and focused and with every new space in her life she owns it with such a confidence that fuels me to push beyond my own boundaries!

Olympic Figure Skater soon come!

WeLove Nature

DC outdoors is so good!

It’s so amazing to live in a area that provides such a diverse entertainment scene. From the free museums , to swanky little restaurants to the ah- mazing outdoors DC does not lack “things to do”. Fletcher’s Cove is such a wonderful experience in Georgetown.

Fishing, canoeing and the beautiful opportunity to connect with what matters can all be experienced in this beautiful space.

C&O Canal has quite an interesting history so you just may learn something by taking a visit to this space.

Where does your family go to enjoy the outdoors?

WeLove Play

Let me start by beaming about how the thrill of living in DC proper is a long awaited joy! Establishing goals that serve your family and cutting down on our commuting time is a wonderful feeling! This past Saturday we spent the majority of our early day on the playground! Kaboom & Playworks DC Hosted a wonderful day of play for the entire family! We have experienced so much rain lately that we were eager to get out and play with Mr. Golden Sun!

We value outdoor freedom, physical activity and children’s imagination. The fact that the new trend is to decrease/ eliminate recess for children is literally deplorable. #Rally4Recess had petitions on hand as well as a day of fun and healthy food for everyone. Sidewalk chalk, classic group games, and balls of all types was a nostalgic Saturday for me as a parent.

Of course while at play everyone works up quite the appetite and Honest juice and DC Central Kitchen was on hand to feul us with wraps and fresh fruit. The bounty of apples and pears also kept us going.

Sometimes we go for a over scheduled weekend with more running around then is necessary and this weekend we kept it classic with a day of outdoor recess. We had a blast!

WeLove Sunshine

Sunny days are meant to be outside! With no shoes, yummy food and your favorite people! Things have changed and I am not a SAHM anymore. I’m so thankful for my career ,but the parameters of a traditional office setting when I really wanted to lay in the grass with my bush out was so challenging for me this week. Luckily I get off earlyish enough and nature and my family love me enough that after work they saved a little Sun time for me ☺️

I love the commutable benefits to DC and the cute experiences that are abundantly available. My family and I celebrated the Sun with cupcakes!

Baked & Wired is our favorite Georgetown bakery. The cupcakes are big enough to share and so yummy! We each like different flavored which makes it fun to get a bite of each! Carrot Cake, Strawberry & Unicorn were on the menu. After our treats they was plenty of dancing in the Georgetown streets and laying in the Sun! Family makes everything so much sweeter! I love my people!

WeLove Home!

This Wednesday we attended an early screening for Home It was absolutely amazing! Let’s begin with the obvious appeal…. The main character is a strong and brave brown girl by the name of Gratuity! Of all the films I have taken my little to see (and she is quite the little aficionado) this is the first time there has been a film that made a huge effort to be inclusive of varied shades of the human race. Let alone a brown main character! Watching the theatre fill with little brown girls with curly hair, I was literally over joyed that Dreamworks created this film. Representation is so necessary! The storyline centered heavily on the importance of family as well as individuality. The value of family and the lengths in which loved ones will endure to stay together. The movie is rated PG so for the sensitive be mindful that the words stupid and idiot were used once or twice ,and I was a little confused as to why there was no explanation about the absence of her father. However, none of these things were a distraction to the theme of love and loyalty that in the end saved everyone. This is absolutely a movie I look forward to adding to our collection and watching over and over! Don’t walk …run to the theatre with your family for this awesome film.
