No Title

I drafted a blog a week ago that will never be released. In the time since then and since my last writing so much magic has occurred for my family. My desire to be heartfelt and transparent requires more intimate interactions so this will be my final posting.

This past Saturday marked 32 years around the SUN for me ✨✨✨ The following day I had a beautiful home birth of our smallest Princess Layali words can’t express the joy of that experience or adding her to our lives.

Living in the moment and reflecting simultaneously is the best description of the space of time I Liv in. I’m elated about the growth of my family and receiving the manifestations of experiences that I have prayed for.

I am more motivated now then I have ever been before to move boldly in the direction of my passions.

WELove Art

We will pop up on some art! The fam and I love to be apart of and decipher the beauty of experimental art. The Hirshhorn blessed us today with Ann Hamilton’s What Absence is Made Of. Also not to be missed is the work of Ai Wei Wei. Kids and adults will love the powerful Lego art and the wallpaper pieces make for great conversations. Get there before 2018!

Another favorite piece on display is called “Five Day Forecast”….. this will be a little scavenger hunt… Find it and let me know how you felt.

Halloween 2017

Last week after school Halloween began for our family! I picked up Princess Elena of Avalon and we head right over to NOMA to enjoy a Pumpkin Palooza!

We have been attending for the last few years and it’s amazing how this community event has grown tremendously in attendance numbers!

Next up… we enjoyed some weekday funnin at Catholic University! Both kids were official NASA astronauts ( it was so cold baby boy didn’t get to show off his shirt…. but he did trick or treat…. for me 😜 because I mean let’s be honest…. I can’t let my precious baby eat candy yet!) The kids had a blast! The students worked hard and were so kind to the attendees! They served pizza and snacks, had a trick or treat trail with fun costumes all around. Tons of games and activities, face paint and two moon bounces on a large field that was highly decorated for all to enjoy! We will definitely be back next year!

Three days into Halloween and it’s time to hit the Halloween streets! Crowded per usual! Fun costumes and a bucket full of goodies.

Are anyone else’s kids obsessed with The Descendants Movie? Liv/Uma was pumped to get all suited up and debut her outfit!

The weekend was also filled with parties cue: Beyoncé “We Like to Party” ….. and

Halloween has not even officially arrived!

Daddy playing wingman to our little “ladies man”.

We have a few more events to attend to finish off our Halloween season ( I miiiight update this post to include them)

Happy Candy Day 🎃

WeLove Sunshine

Sunny days are meant to be outside! With no shoes, yummy food and your favorite people! Things have changed and I am not a SAHM anymore. I’m so thankful for my career ,but the parameters of a traditional office setting when I really wanted to lay in the grass with my bush out was so challenging for me this week. Luckily I get off earlyish enough and nature and my family love me enough that after work they saved a little Sun time for me ☺️

I love the commutable benefits to DC and the cute experiences that are abundantly available. My family and I celebrated the Sun with cupcakes!

Baked & Wired is our favorite Georgetown bakery. The cupcakes are big enough to share and so yummy! We each like different flavored which makes it fun to get a bite of each! Carrot Cake, Strawberry & Unicorn were on the menu. After our treats they was plenty of dancing in the Georgetown streets and laying in the Sun! Family makes everything so much sweeter! I love my people!

We Love DC

DC is just so good to us. All of the free museums and impromptu events never get old! Yesterday we played at the Postal Museum ;Liv is a mail enthusiast! Collecting stamps that she uses for crafting later, pretending to drive the massive mail truck as well as sorting mail on the old mail train car make for great creative play while also exposing little ones to the history of our mail system. The museum also includes postal boxes from around the world. Because we are field trip addicts, I am careful not to waste money on “we were here trinkets” , Yesterday liv fell in love with a pony that she was not going to let me leave the museum without as well as a make your own Christmas card kit! I literally squealed to myself about what amazing cards she would create later for her little loves!

After the Postal Museum we headed over to Union Station to hear violinist Joshua Bell perform with a few of his students. Let me tell you…..the crowd that came out to see this performance was aggressive! Having a child in a stroller was no saving grace! Adults were clammering for a position in the mob as if it was a free Beyoncé concert! We could not even see him and his group ,but the sounds were lovely! So much so that after the first piece Liv fell asleep. Check out this great footage of Joshua Bell in Union Station

I’m currently anti naps for her because I want her to go bed at a reasonable hour but I didn’t disturb her…. Next up lunch! Have you guys had shake shack? There are so many fresh organic/grass fed/ yadda yadda burger spots now. I’m debating going back to a pescatarian lifestyle but these cheese burgers have a hold on me! My fave right now is a Good Eats in Georgetown! The Obama Burger…… Don’t deprive yourself! So damn good!

Kids in the Kitchen 2014

This event happened a few weeks back ,but I have been busy living thus the post delay. This was our second year attending Kids in the Kitchen hosted by Junior League of Washington. It’s actually so well put together we will absolutely continue to attend annually.

This free event highlights wellness and movement for family’s with a focus on the children. The crafting tables had healthy food plates kids could assemble, recipe books that were compiled of recipe cards gathered during the event also a oversized coloring mural allowed children to draw their favorite fruits and vegetables from each season. Multiple sample stations with fresh juices and build your own trail mix to name a few. They had the cutest little obstacle course where the kids got a certificate upon completion. Liv still does her push ups after this exercise. The hockey team sport as well as the instructor led movement class rounded out a great day of healthy lifestyle activities. Literally on the way out the door I entered into a raffle and …. Wait for it…… I WON! This is a new phenomenon for me! Winning raffles that is but I gladly and graciously accepted my Whole Foods gift basket. If the edible goodies weren’t prize enough I also had a gift card included in my basket! Very Very Good Event!
