No Title

I drafted a blog a week ago that will never be released. In the time since then and since my last writing so much magic has occurred for my family. My desire to be heartfelt and transparent requires more intimate interactions so this will be my final posting.

This past Saturday marked 32 years around the SUN for me ✨✨✨ The following day I had a beautiful home birth of our smallest Princess Layali words can’t express the joy of that experience or adding her to our lives.

Living in the moment and reflecting simultaneously is the best description of the space of time I Liv in. I’m elated about the growth of my family and receiving the manifestations of experiences that I have prayed for.

I am more motivated now then I have ever been before to move boldly in the direction of my passions.

WELove Art

We will pop up on some art! The fam and I love to be apart of and decipher the beauty of experimental art. The Hirshhorn blessed us today with Ann Hamilton’s What Absence is Made Of. Also not to be missed is the work of Ai Wei Wei. Kids and adults will love the powerful Lego art and the wallpaper pieces make for great conversations. Get there before 2018!

Another favorite piece on display is called “Five Day Forecast”….. this will be a little scavenger hunt… Find it and let me know how you felt.

When we get a date night we jump at this unicorn moment!!!

Living in the city makes the night so much more enjoyable! Quick Uber rights to our destination and endless options for fun!

We started date night at Toki Underground which is so hidden by the H st vibes that if your tastebuds are not leading the way you could easily miss the door to this tasty hideout. Before feasting on ramen we enjoyed the fried chicken steamed buns which are SO flavorful! I mean it’s fried chicken, with bread and sweet little pickles…. everything your hungry desires crave!

After dinner we spent the rest of our night experiencing the XYZT exhibit at ARTECHOUSE! I love art so much! We love art so much! If you enjoy being apart of art then you must experience this! XYZT brings out the childlike inquisitive nature in us all. It felt like a reset and a inspiration to have this experience in my memory bank. And of course experiencing art with someone you love only amplifies the potency of the experience!

Now that mommy and daddy have had this experience we are all set to return with the kids!

Weekend Cool

Sunday we started our day with Disney on Ice! Honestly, I felt like this performance was just ok…. ” 100 Years of Magic” wasn’t that magical to me. Mulan and Lion King were definitely highlights. However, my issues were where the hell was Princess Tiana? and Why is there always violence ie. the stabbing of the Beast.

After, we headed to The National Portrait Gallery which is probably my favorite museum in DC. They are currently running an ” American Cool ” exhibit highlighting influential tastemakers, artist, athletes, rebels, and charismatic souls. From the 1940s until present those we have chosen to lead the cool brigade in this country were all represented

Unfortunately with the crowd I wasn’t able to get any good shots.
The complimentary warm tea and hot coco for kiddies was a yummy treat.
Taking Liv to museums is such a joy to teach her and highlight aspects of art that are relatable to her. Hearing her interpretation of things she sees is just wonderful.

Have I mentioned that I’m tired of wearing a coat and that this winter wonderland we are in is starting to get pretty outrageous?! Well the Botanical Gardens gave us a mini escape from the elements and it gave us a indoor / outdoor vibe that we all appreciated!

How have you snow bunnies been keeping busy?

Barbara Kruger: Belief + Doubt

I love learning and experiencing new things! Never have I ever been to the HIrshhorn museum here in DC so my wonderful little Princess and I took some time to consume the Barbara Kruger exhibit. I strongly encourage checking it out. Liv enjoyed identifying letters and singing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” as loudly as possible in the exhibit space. The thought provoking questions and statements made for a good moment.

Discovery Theatre

Uno…Dos …Tres…Con Andres!

20130930-134058.jpg

The Smithsonian has a wonderful theatre space for little tots to enjoy learning and music.
Uno…Dos…Tres…con Andres! was a bilingual music experience that was both engaging and educational! As often as we visit The National Mall I had totally overlooked this space ,and I’m so glad that it is now on my radar. The events at the Discovery Theatre are ticketed and the cost was around $11 for both Liv and I very reasonable.
Since this particular event was held on a Friday we were able to enjoy the farmers market down on the mall as well. The veggie wraps and Hibiscus tea were so delicious we had to hit the market going and coming and the shaded tree stump seating nearby the garden area was a peaceful way to enjoy.

We have already purchased our tickets to the October Halloween show at Discovery Theatre!
We will be in costume! Hope to meet some of you guys there 🙂

Art & Ice Cream

This past weekend we had the pleasure of hanging with Liv’s new friend Sebastion.

20130726-180821.jpg

Lucky for us our play date was scheduled for National Ice Cream Day!
The kids were thrilled when they heard we planned to get some cold treats in this heat. Union Market hosted DC Scoop which was a wonderful event with tastes of the best ice cream, gelatto, and other frozen treats. My fave frozen treat hands down was the Liv was entertained by the Boogie Babies musical guest while we stood in crazy long lines for our desserts. One of my favorite beverage brands Honesty set up a really cute pop up shop. A free photo booth was also part of the event that the kiddies enjoyed. Dolcezza Gelatto was hands down my favorite! They served up a blackberry flavor that was SO good! They have a few locations around the city so that is very convenient for my taste buds.

After we finished at the DC Scoop we headed over to ArtJamz so Liv and her buddy could unleash their inner creative!
