Below are a few places we went last week.
This weekend was perfect to visit the Zoo!
It was warm enough for me to just wear my denim jacket and momma was thrilled! With this crazy cold weather we had not been since Zoolights and we are usually at the Zoo weekly! The carousel and train are always necessary on our visits.
Chuck E Cheese …. We have such a system at this place. Coupon for the token motherload, Pizza and juice box for her, beer for mommy, of course we bring our official Chuck E Cheese tote for all of our tickets and while we are currently saving for a BIG prize Princess Liv always gets cotton candy to go.
Sports and Learning Center open gymnastics is perfect for drop in fun during the daytime. Little ones and parents ( adults be prepared to wear flexible clothing) get a great workout. The trampoline, massive foam pit, balancing beams, walls to climb, monkey bars and tons of mats to perfect those flips. After we always enjoy a snack that I pack or purchase something from the cafe.
Bowie Branch Library! We love books and this new library is so welcoming to do just that. The small readers area is so bright and spacious filled with little toys mounted along the walls. The large faux tree in the kids area is so great to read under and stimulate little imaginations. I was really pleased. This library is perfect for a little reading play date. This location also offers the option to check out iPads! How 2014!
I love learning and experiencing new things! Never have I ever been to the HIrshhorn museum here in DC so my wonderful little Princess and I took some time to consume the Barbara Kruger exhibit. I strongly encourage checking it out. Liv enjoyed identifying letters and singing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” as loudly as possible in the exhibit space. The thought provoking questions and statements made for a good moment.
Hirshhorn Museum is free and conveniently located at L’enfant metro station Enjoy!
Ice at The National Harbor was a unique and exciting frozen wonderland!
Colorful ice of Christmas imagery surrounded us and we took many turns on the slide!
I hope you guys have been making the most of this cold winter season by partaking in all the holiday fun to be had.
After our late night at the Zoo I did not have the energy for our day at Mt.Vernon per my plan ,but luckily The Sports & Learning Complex had a fall event going on.
Crafts, snacks, bouncy house, train rides and crafts welcomed us.
Unfortunately, a few of the promoted activities were not there like the petting zoo and live performers…..booo
Our Halloween fun started Friday at 5pm!
The weather was so shockingly cold (I’m in denial that summer is over and coats are now needed)
So I had to use a alternate costume for Liv! Since she was bundled for the elements she strapped her wings over her coat and was a “Fairy”! The DC Zoo is hands down one of our fave places to visit and we do so routinely. So with the addition of some Halloween fun we were really excited for Boo at the Zoo! While we may have revised our costumes, plenty of families came out in full costume! Some of the most impressive and entertaining were the child Ipad as well as the elaborate family costumes like the Wizard of Oz! The unique costumes added to the excitement of the event!
The DC Zoo showcased animal encounters, educational booths, haunted petting zoo which is always fun and loads of treats!
The carousel ride with her aunt was definitely a highlight for Liv!
We had a blast and plan to incorporate this event into our fall traditions! This event was ticketed ,so be sure to plan ahead as this event is very popular.
Trick or Treat!
Uno…Dos …Tres…Con Andres!
The Smithsonian has a wonderful theatre space for little tots to enjoy learning and music.
Uno…Dos…Tres…con Andres! was a bilingual music experience that was both engaging and educational! As often as we visit The National Mall I had totally overlooked this space ,and I’m so glad that it is now on my radar. The events at the Discovery Theatre are ticketed and the cost was around $11 for both Liv and I very reasonable.
Since this particular event was held on a Friday we were able to enjoy the farmers market down on the mall as well. The veggie wraps and Hibiscus tea were so delicious we had to hit the market going and coming and the shaded tree stump seating nearby the garden area was a peaceful way to enjoy.
We have already purchased our tickets to the October Halloween show at Discovery Theatre!
We will be in costume! Hope to meet some of you guys there 🙂
